Town hosts Arbor Day event on April 26

Community Wednesday, April 19, 2017

The Town of Miami Lakes invites residents to join in the annual Arbor Day and Tree Planting Ceremony scheduled at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue.

With more than 17,000, the beautiful canopy trees in Miami Lakes have long been the signature of the Town. Miami Lakes continues to be recognized for its abundant tree canopy as well as its exceptional tree management practices, with both the Tree City USA Certification and Growth Award designations for the past year.

This year’s tree will be planted in memory of the late Penny Lambeth, a Miami Lakes resident and well-known historian and preservationist. Arbor Day is the perfect day to celebrate her memory as Lambeth served as vice president of TREEmendous Miami, a volunteer group that helped plant thousands of trees throughout Miami-Dade.
