Town launches annual Youth Skill Development program

Miami Lakes popular youth skill programs at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West, Just Run® and Start Smart are back for the fall and a few spots are still available.

The Just Run® Miami Lakes program, now in its 6th year, is a free, fun program that promotes fitness, healthy eating, good citizenship, and pride in accomplishment. The program is open to children ages 5 through 14 and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. beginning October 11 and running through April.

Registration is required and can be done entirely online at www.miamilakes-fl.gov/recprograms.
The Start Smart program began its six week series on August 31 and runs through September. The program, developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, aims to help prepare children, ages 3 to 5 years old, for organized youth sports by using safe and fun equipment while developing basic motor skills.

Classes are held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.. on consecutive Wednesdays. Parents must attend each session with their child.
