Town Launches Emergency Management System

Community Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Miami Lakes has partnered with the Florida Department of Emergency Management and Everbridge to launch its Emergency Management and mass notification system in the town.

The system will enable the Town to reach its residents and visitors effectively in the case of an emergency. It will also help the Town to contact citizens, staff and emergency personnel with the right messages at the right time, integrating the communication flow during a crisis.

The Town will be able to reach citizens who have opted in to use the service online via different channels they chose to be contacted like text messages, emails, app notifications, etc.

Miami Lakes will also start using the hashtag #AlertMiamiLakes to alert citizens on social media.

• Create an Online Profile – Citizens can go online and create their profile and opt-in to receive alerts from the Town during emergencies like severe weather, crime, public works announcements, or other critical events at www.MiamiLakes-fl.gov/AlertMiamiLakes with their preferred phone, mobile phone or email addresses.

• Citizens can also download the Everbridge mobile application (optional, but recommended) on their mobile devices to start receiving geographically tagged emergency notifications in the Miami Lakes area.
