Town launches ‘Rec 2 U’ summer play initiative

Miami Lakes is kicking off a new recreational program, “Rec 2 U,” aimed at bringing several of the Town’s youth programs into several neighborhoods around town.

On four Tuesdays from August 8 to September 5, the Town’s Recreation Programs team will be at a different neighborhood park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with free activities, games, and equipment for youth and teens. 

The program is designed for ages 5 to 17 and there is no need to register. Residents are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to one of the selected parks while their children enjoy some afternoon fun.

The scheduled parks: 

August 8 – Northwest area: Sevilla Estates Park, N.W. 89 Court and 169 Terrace.
August 15 – West side: 8560 Menteith Place.
August 22 – Southeast area: Corner of Mahogany Court and Maple Terrace.
September 5 – East side: 6271 Lake Champlain Terrace.
