Town schedules two Town Hall meetings for proposed Dog Park

Community Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Miami Lakes is known for its beautiful tree-lined streets, parks and green spaces. With a commitment to continue “Growing Beautifully,” the Town has recently embarked on a renewed urban beautification effort to reach this goal not only for residents, but furry residents as well.

Over the past several years, there have been requests from Miami Lakes dog owners to have their very own dog park. Last year, the Town agreed to lease a parcel of property from the Florida Department of Transportation located at the southern end of N.W. 77 Court, with suitable conditions for a dog recreation area adjacent to future proposed trails and facilities.

The proposed Dog Recreation Area is planned to have separate fenced areas for both large and small dogs, a parking lot, water fountain, and shaded picnic shelter.

The Town will host two public meetings to gain resident input on the proposed Dog Recreation Area concept and design. The meetings will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue; and Saturday, December 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Town Hall Council Chambers, 6601 Main Street.
