Town seeks to fill Council Seat 4

Miami Lakes Town Clerk and Supervisor of Elections Gina Inguanzo will begin accepting applications for vacant Council Seat 4 on Dec. 16.

Prospective applicants will have to file forms with her by Dec. 20 to be considered for the position.

Seat 4 became vacant when former Councilman Josh Dieguez ran for mayor, an office he won on Nov. 26. The term for his former council seat ends in Nov. 2026.

Dieguez has 30 days to fill the chair. He will nominate someone from the pool of applicants. The council will then vote on whether to approve the nominee.

Dieguez has until Dec. 27 to make nominate a candidate. If the council doesn’t approve that person, the town will hold a special election.
