Town starts a Transition Program for special needs residents

Miami Lakes’ Special Needs Advisory Board announced a pilot Transition Program for individuals with special needs. The program expands training in the areas of employability skills training, life skills and self-advocacy so they can learn skills to achieve independence.
The program is available for 14 to 22 year-olds and 22 years plus.
The one week program begins July 22, July 29 and August 5, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue, Room 3. Registration opens July 8 online, in-person and by phone.
