The Miami Lakes Veterans Parade returns for its 44th year.

The oldest parade in Miami-Dade County honors veterans from all wars as well as active military members.

It will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5.

The procession will start at Northwest 67th Avenue and Bull Run Road.

It will travel south along the avenue before turning east onto Eagle Nest Lane.

Once at Main Street the parade will end at Miami Lakes Town Hall for a brief ceremony.

The Veterans Committee is once again in charge of choosing the grand marshal to lead the parade. That person has not yet been announced.

At the committee’s Oct. 11 meeting, members said that there were four applicants so far.

Along with veterans, schools will march and some bands will perform.

They’ll be joined by elected officials and fire and police departments.

Previously, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, karate clubs and dance groups as well as Star Wars characters have joined in.

This year, Miami Jeep Pull-up will again provide Jeeps for the grand marshal and elected officials to ride in as well as a float for other honored guests.

Sponsors include The Graham Companies; Miami Lakes AutoMall; Montes Family McDonald’s and Solis Health Plans.
