It’s election season, and this month voters have a chance to win a grant to improve the town’s dog park.
K-9 Cove is the only off-leash facility in Miami Lakes for dogs both big and small.
It is a finalist in a contest by PetSafe to win a grant to enhance the facility that is at 14048 Palmetto Frontage Road.
Unlike in regular elections, voters in this contest may cast a ballot for the park every day, until Aug. 31.
If the town wins, the section of the park for small dogs will get upgrades to include a doggie crawl, paws table, weave posts and hoop jump to challenge and entertain them and their owners.
Also, park equipment will be sealed with a plastic product that is resistant to urine and sun damage.
