Miami Lakes officials often cut ribbons at new businesses to welcome them to town, so why not greet the latest addition to the Public Works fleet in the same special way?

On the morning of May 25 outside Town Hall, elected officials and town staff debuted a vacuum truck.

On Twitter, Mayor Manny Cid called flooding mitigation one of residents’ top priorities. The new truck, which cost $450,901, will allow proper function of the stormwater system by pulling debris from drains to allow water to flow into them, according to Omar Santos Baez, the director of Public Works.
