Optimist Club hosts Pitch Hit and Run and Home Run Derby events

MLB Pitch, Hit and Run is returning to Miami Lakes as the Optimist Club of Miami Lakes is hosting the event which is scheduled for Sunday, 1 p.m., April 28 at Miami Lakes Optimist Park, 6411 N.W. 162 Street.
Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals during the 2019 MLB All-Star Week.
The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of competition.
Later that day, the Optimist Club will host Major League Baseball’s Junior Home Run Derby for area youths, which is scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, April 28, at Miami Lakes Optimist Park, 6411 N.W. 162 Street in Miami Lakes.
The event will be fun and an exciting youth competition for talented youths to showcase their hitting abilities with the opportunity to compete at the National Finals during MLB All-Star week.
Boys are girls are divided into two age divisions: 12U and 14U, and they will have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition.
The local champions from both age divisions advance to the regional level and regional championships will advance to the National Finals which will take place during the 2019 MLB All-Star week.
All participants in both events must bring a copy of their birth certificates and have their parents or guardians fill out a registration/waiver form prior of the start of the competition.
