Family, friends and former NFL players recently celebrated the birthday of Miami Dolphins coaching legend Don Shula, who turned 89- years-old on January 4. Shula, the NFL’s winningest head coach with 347 victories, led the Dolphins to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 1972 and 1973, and the only unbeaten team in NFL history. Shula, a former Miami Lakes resident, retired in 1996 after coaching Miami for 25 years and opened up a chain of Shula’s Steak House and Shula’s Steak 2 restaurants which started in Miami Lakes. Shula is pictured with his wife, Mary Ann, at a recent event.
