The 8th Annual B-Fore-Pink Breast Cancer Golf Tournament is accepting registrations for players and sponsors in the charity game scheduled for Oct. 4 at Shula’s Golf Club.
The event benefits The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative, a Miami Lakes organization that provides education, prevention strategies, treatments and screenings for at-risk women.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in the United States, after skin cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
For Hispanic women, it is the leading cause of cancer deaths; black women have a higher fatality rate from the disease than white women.
The day of golf is presented by AutoNation. It begins at 10:30 a.m. and includes lunch and the “Putting Around” clinic and contest and an awards dinner.
Other sponsors include the Lowell S. and Betty L. Dunn Family Foundation; The Graham Companies; Jackson Health System; Macy’s; Ryder; Solution Construction and UPS.
