The Junior Orange Bowl is calling for submissions by young writers for its 34th Annual Creative Writing Contest.

Students may win prizes and cash awards of up to $750.

This year’s theme is “How can art and music change our lives?”

The deadline to submit an essay online is March 18.

The contest is open to 8th grade students in South Florida.

One entry per student will be accepted.

Essays should be a maximum 500 words, in 12 pt. font typed in Word or sent in a PDF.

Entries must be written in English and in essay format.

Judges will look for splendid prose; attention to theme; depth of meaning and expression; originality; a genuine voice and correct grammar.

Teachers may also be eligible for cash prizes too. If their school submits five essays, it will be entered into a raffle for $500.
