Construction funded by the Miami-Dade Public School’s General Obligation Bond, approved by Miami Dade County voters, is well under way at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High School (HML). HML was awarded $5,165,622 for interior and exterior renovations to the campus, originally opened in 1971.
Groundbreaking began on October 12 of last year with a scope of work that includes new student restrooms, a gymnasium floor, a public announcement system, HVAC system and refurbished gymnasium bleachers inside the school. Exterior renovations include a resurfaced basketball court, new softball dugouts and a bus loop to improve traffic flow at peak times of the day.
Principal Llisa Garcia makes the point that “with HML academics soaring, our students and staff will have a beautifully renovated school to match their amazing accomplishments.” The construction is scheduled for completion early in 2019.
