One day after being named to the Conference USA InTouch Credit Union All-Academic Team, Florida International Florida men’s soccer player Luca Giovine was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District men's soccer First Team. The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.   Giovine, who has posted a 3.76 GPA while majoring in accounting and finance, appeared in 15 games for the Panthers as a forward, starting in three. The Roselle, Illinois native, recorded four points on the year, including one goal and two assists.

The lone goal of the season came during the 5-0 shutout of North Florida. His first assist on the year came during the 2-1 win at UAB, when he connected with junior Santiago Patino to take in the lead in the 14th minute. His second assist came in timely fashion when he set up redshirt-freshman Alessandro Campoy with only two seconds left in the 3-1 win over Old Dominion.

Giovine has also been named to the Commissioner's Academic honor roll for the last three years, has earned the Commissioner's Medal for the last two years, and has made Dean's List in all seven semesters at FIU.
