Florida International University outfielder Lorenzo Hampton Jr. is making a big impact for the Panthers this season.

The Miami Lakes resident and former Monsignor Edward Pace High standout is batting .274 with 22 runs, 28 RBI and eight home runs.

Perhaps his best performance of the season came against Grambling University in April when Hampton Jr. went 7-for-12 with two home runs and seven RBI’s, lifting the Panthers to a 12-7 victory at home.

Hampton Jr., who played his two college seasons at California, is the son of former Miami Dolphins running back Lorenzo Hampton Sr.

The Panthers (18-21) are still alive in the C-USA Conference, hoping to finish the season strong and earn a berth in the postseason.
