Miami’s ASA College softball head coach, Geena Capitini, announced the signings of the first four student-athletes deciding to join the ASA Miami softball program.

Recent American High graduates Ashley Alfonso and Erika Castroman played together on the Patriots, while Kassandra Roig prepped at Reagan Senior High School in Doral and Karina Londono played softball at Hialeah Miami Lakes.

Alfonso and Castroman led American to a 14-6 record and the 9A-13 District Championship during the 2018 season. The dazzling tandem helped the Patriots advance to the 9A Regional Semifinal, when their season came to an end in a loss against Coral Gables High School.

Alfonso went 12-6 with a 2.17 ERAin 90 innings of work. Those numbers were good enough to earn her a spot on the 2018 Miami Herald All-County First Team. Castroman went 23- 53 (.434) with 19 RBI and was named 2018 Miami Herald All- County honorable mention. Kassandra Roig contributed as both a pitcher and hitter during her senior season for the Bisons of Reagan. Roig batted .312 with 18 RBI, while striking out 92 batters. Roig earned 2018 9A-7A Miami Herald All- County honorable mention.

Karina Londono recorded 45 strikeouts in 51 innings pitched.

“This group of girls have been playing softball together for a long time,” said Capitini. “I am happy to see that they decided to chose our program and stay together as they take on this next chapter of their lives. Also, being a part of the inaugural softball class is huge for them, they will have the opportunity to set the culture for this program and for the future ASA players to come.”
