Local high school athletes named to All-Dade squads

A group of local high school student-athletes made The Miami Herald’s All-Dade teams in football and bowling.

For 5A-Independent football, Dade Christian senior offensive lineman Jonathan Perez made the All-Dade first team, and did Pace’s junior linebacker Sage Lewis, who recorded a season high 120 tackles.

Second team offense includes Pace quarterback Kelly Benson, Pace’s offensive lineman and Pace’s athlete Leondre Hughes, and second team defense includes Dade Christian linebacker Victor Young.

Third team offense includes Dade Christian running back Isaac Pryce, Dade Christian’s Mariel Steadman, Dade Christian’s offensive lineman Blake Janvion and Pace’s kicker Emilo Morales.

Third team offense includes Pace defensive back Albert Smalls, and honorable mention includes Pace players Patrick Stanley, Stanley Barnwell, DaMarrior Jackson-Smith and Juan Cornet.

For 8A-6A football, second team offense includes Mater Academy senior running back Jamal Adjamah, and second team offense includes Mater Academy’s senior Joseph Barrocas. The third team includes Goleman senior running back O’Brian Anderson.

Third team defense includes Mater Academy junior defensive lineman Dwayne Paddyfoot and American junior Karon Jackson.

Honorable mentions include Goleman’s Stanley Jean-Pierre, Leander Marrero, Jamal McIntyre and Darnell Flucker.

For girl’s first team in bowling, American’s Brianna Futch, who won the GMAC tournament and was the District 16 champ with a county best 174, and Goleman’s Catherine Gutierrez, who won the District 16 championship with a 154.7 average.

Honorable mentions include American bowlers Tiffany Collins, Stephanie Wong and Tiffany Wong; Goleman bowlers Vanessa Galvez, Tiana Gema, Gabriella Sallai and Caroline Zampragno; and Hialeah Miami Lakes’ Nicole Rios.
