A group of local high-school students made The Miami Herald’s All-Dade teams for football, girls and boys swimming and diving, volleyball, golf and cross country.
All-Dade Football
Making the All-Dade 5A-Independent First Team offense was Dade Christian senior offensive lineman Jarod Johnson who also played on the defensive line recording 57 tackles and nine sacks.
Also on the First Team defense was Pace senior linebacker Sage Lewis who recorded 105 tackles and eight sacks.
The Second Team offense included Pace junior quarterback Eric Walker.
Second Team defense included Dade Christian senior all-purpose player Malik Wisdom.
Third Team offense included Pace offensive lineman Anderson Millias and Dade Christian senior all-purpose player Mike Pererra.
Third Team defense included Dade Christian sophomore defensive lineman Jose Valdivia and Pace senior all-purpose player DaMarrio Jackson-Smith.
Honorable mentions included Dade Christian players Tim McIntosh, Calvin Hart, D.J. Terry and Blake Janvion.
The 8A-6A First Team defense included American senior defensive back Jeremiah Dinson, who recorded three interceptions, 37 tackles, two touchdowns from kick off returns and two fumble recoveries.
Second Team defense players included Mater Academy senior linebacker Dwayne Paddyfoot and American defensive players senior Karon Jackson and junior Antoine Webster.
Third Team offense players included Mater Academy senior wide receiver Steven Rodriguez and Hialeah Miami Lakes senior all purpose player Simino Walden.
Honorable mentions included American players Deangelo Nelms, Jamal Smith, Jeremiah Pierce-Johnson, Joshua Dinson, Anthony White Jr. and Darius Rolle; Hialeah Gardens players Raul Ortiz, Peter Carnero, Jonael Mons and Austin Rodriguez; and Hialeah Miami Lakes players Jabari Lawrence, Antonio Howard, Chris White and Terrell Lewis.
All-Dade Swimming and Diving
For boys, Mater Academy sophomore swimmer Julio Horrego, who finished with a score of 57.32 in the 100 breast stroke at the state tournament.
Honorable mentions included American swimmer and diver Rafaeland, Hialeah Miami Lakes’ Antonio Perez, and Mater Lakes Ervin Marin and Kevin Porto.
For girls, second team members included Hialeah Gardens’ Jessica Rodriguez for the 200 meters finishing with a 2:08.07, and third team members included Mater Academy’s Liz Travieso, Nataly Jimenez, Loana Nardoni and Vanessa Mesa.
All-Dade Volleyball
For girls, Class 8A-6A honorable mentions included Hialeah Gardens’ Melanie Torres; Hialeah Miami Lakes’ Fatima Madlum, Ariecy Monroy, Jessy Marquez and Jenny Marquez; and Mater Academy’s Amanda Garcia, Barbara Marin, Rashel Rodriguez and Analli Abrue.
Class 4A-2A honorable mentions included Pace’s Sophia Gonzalez, Sharell Nairn, Lauren Hoffmann and Angie McMurray.
All-Dade Golf
For boys, honorable mentions included American’s Gustavo Hernandez, and girls honorable mentions included American’s Taylor Robinson.
All-Dade Cross Country
For boys, honorable mentions included Dade Christian runner Iverson Williams and Hialeah Gardens’ Aldo Aguilar. For girls, Mater Academy senior Jinah Mickens, who finished in 6th place at the state tournament.
Honorable mentions included Hialeah Miami Lakes’ Jessica Myers and Sarah Loza; and Mater Academy’s Venus Garcia, Emily Acosta and Daniela Ofarril.
