MDC women’s volleyball team wins conference championship

The Miami Dade College women’s volleyball team was recently crowned the 2017 Southern Conference Champions after winning the conference tournament.

Following the clinching victory against Indian River State College, the Lady Sharks are undefeated at 24-0 and seeking to win the regional and national championship this season.
Sophomore Thais De Castro Andrade is among the leaders for the Lady Sharks, becoming a member of the 25 Dig Club eight times throughout the 2017 season.

In addition, Andrade was named Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.
Recently, sophomore Sun Wenting was named Player of the Week for her play during the Southern Conference Championship held at Daytona State College this past weekend. During the SoCo Tournament, Wenting averaged 4.5 kills and 4.2 digs per set (11 total) over four matches.
