Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and District 13 Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr. dedicated two new lighted soccer fields during a groundbreaking on Saturday, April 12, at the state-of-the-art “Soccer 5” Soccer Complex at Amelia Earhart park, 401 E. 65 Street, in Hialeah. The facility will include a Soccer Field Center and other soccer amenities.

“The new soccer fields at Amelia Earhart park show our continued commitment to enhance our parks and open spaces, ensuring that all Miami-Dade County residents have access to the best possible opportunities for sports and recreation,” said Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.

“I am delighted for the youth and families in this soccer-playing community,” said Bovo. “Sports like soccer encourage people to be active outdoors and promote healthy living.”

The new soccer fields were designed and funded by Soccer 5 Miami, the facility’s operator. Each field is 135-by-90 feet, comprised of 4G synthetic turf and can accommodate 6-v-6 through 8-v-8 matches.

Future amenities include two lighted 225-by-360 foot regulation soccer fields with irrigation, connecting walkways, three shaded bleacher pads with seating for 100 persons each, a 2,465 square-foot field center building with a concession stand and restrooms, and a picnic shelter. Funding of $3.2 million will be provided by “Building Better Communities” General Obligation Bond and Quality Neighborhood Improvement Program funds.
