The Miami Lakes Optimist Club hosted closing ceremonies for its Fall 2014 Flag Football program at Royal Oaks Park on Saturday, Dec. 6. Over 130 children received trophies, special awards, and took team photos.

Congratulations to the ages 5-7 Cardinals, 8-10 Broncos, and 11+ Panthers, the Fall 2014 league champions.

Miami Lakes Mayor Wayne Slaton addressed the parents, children, and spectators. Also in attendance were Deon Dyer and Elmer Bailey, two ex-Miami Dolphins who shared some football stories with the league's participants and encouraged them remain active, focused on school, and to pursue their dreams.

Six league sponsors received special recognition: Global Management Services, Medical Priority Pharmacy, MiaCucina, Nice Car, Inc., SpeedyIT360, and TapeJungle.com. Their sponsorships exemplify a strong commitment to the community and the Town's youth sports programs.

Registration for the next season of youth flag football will begin on January 24. The league will begin in February 2015 and welcomes boys and girls ages 5 to 15. For more information, call 786-859-6925 or visit http://MIAFlag.com.
