Monsignor Edward Pace’s baseball team defeated Gulliver Prep, 11-6, in a 5A regional quarterfinal game, setting up a district playoff rematch with district foe iMater Charter.
Pace, enroute to the district championship, defeated iMater, 7-2, in the division tournament and the Knights were seeking redemption on May 16 at the Spartans’ home field.
The Pace team has defeated iMater in every regular season matchup.

During the district and regional tournaments, Pace was led by senior pitchers Brandon Cruz and Brandon Diaz, and senior outfielders Nicholas San Marty, Bryan Diaz and Jeter Downs, who committed to the University of Miami.

Pace (21-4) is seeking to win the regional championship for the second consecutive year and a return trip to the state tournament in a hunt for its seventh state championship.
Also in high school baseball, Mater Academy lost to Nova, 8-1, in a regional quarterfinal game, and Hialeah Gardens fell to Coral Gables, 5-1, in the first round of regional action.
