Miami Lakes will once again host the popular Start Smart Sports Development Program. Developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, the program aims to help prepare children, ages 3-5 years old, for organized youth sports by using safe and fun equipment while developing basic motor skills.

The 6-week program helps parents work one-on-one with their children while teaching them the basics of sports like throwing, catching, kicking and batting.

Over the last several years, more than 100 children have participated in the program which prepares them for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt.

Classes will be held on six consecutive Wednesdays beginning April 1 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Picnic Park West, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. Parents must attend each session with their child.

Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basic. Registration is available now by contacting Recreation Programs coordinator Kristina Labossiere at LabossiereK@miamilakes-fl.gov, or 305-698-9308.
