Miami Lakes Councilmembers Ceasar Mestre and Tim Daubert, along with Vice Mayor Manny Cid and Billy the Marlin, took part in the festivities that kicked-off the 2015 Miami Lakes Optimist Spring baseball/softball season on Friday, February 20 at Miami Lakes Optimist Park. Cid threw out the first pitch to Daubert as hundreds of players, parents, local dignitaries and spectators looked on and cheered before the kids took the field to play some ball. “Sports, like baseball, help our children develop many positive attitudes like leadership and accountability,” Cid said. “The skill-sets attained by playing baseball will be invaluable for their future.”
