St. Thomas University’s women’s basketball team has signed two-time All-State guard Brooke Bogatz from Lake Worth, Fla.
The school in Miami Gardens announced Bogatz’s signing on April 1.
Bogatz, shown in photo at left, joins the Bobcats after four years of varsity basketball at Park Vista Community High School.
The 5-foot-4 Bogatz was selected for the Florida All-Star Basketball Classic this past season. The game was to have been played March 15 but was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Bogatz averaged 17 points, 5.9 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.9 rebounds per game in her high school career and has scored 1,739 points.
She’ll be asked to provide immediate impact for a St. Thomas team that went 10-18 this past season but returns three starters in seniors-to-be Patricia Martinez-Sanz from Spain and Kylie Vogel from Fairbury, Ill. and junior-to-be
Madison Sjogreen of Plantation.
St. Thomas coach Candace Walker is losing her leading scorer from this past season with the graduation of Keiana Brooks from Winchester, Va. who averaged 14.3 points per game.
Bogatz has twice been an All-County selection in basketball, helping her team finish as district runner-up in 2020.
She also is a standout in girls’ flag football and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Bogatz plans to study sports administration when she enrolls at STU this fall.
