St. Thomas star Whitney Battoe earns honors for volleyball success

St. Thomas University’s junior volleyball outside hitter Whitney Battoe has been named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and a First-Team AVCA All-Regional performer for the 2016 season. It marked the second straight year that Battoe has been named an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American and to the AVCA Southeast All-Regional team.

Battoe, a native of Naperville, Illinois, earned the honors after a season in which she led the Bobcats (25-7, 11-3 TSC) with 323 total kills. For the third straight year, she registered over 300 kills, bringing her career kill total to 948. 

In addition to being honored by the NAIA and AVCA, Battoe was named First Team All-Sun Conference in 2016. As a sophomore in 2015, she was named Sun Conference Player of the Year along with First Team All-Sun Conference honors. 

Battoe, a psychology major, has excelled in the classroom as well, earning NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Sun Conference in 2016.
