Three Florida International University baseball players have made the pros.
FIU reliever Chandler Raiden signed a free agent deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, pitcher Andres Nunez was drafted by the Kansas City Royals and FIU second baseman Eddie Silva signed a free agent deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Raiden was a key cog of the Panthers bullpen the last two seasons. The senior led the Panthers’ pen with 25 appearances last season. He was 0-2 with a 4.72 ERA and had one save. Raiden made his only career start last April 25 against Miami in which he tossed two shutout innings. The Panthers defeated the Hurricanes 14-6 and swept the crosstown series.
In his two years at FIU, Raiden made 49 appearances and was 2-3 with three saves.
