Freshman Vanessa Rodriguez was awarded Mater Lakes Academy’s (MLA) Girls Soccer MVP. Rodriguez scored 17 goals playing against the likes of Miami Country Day, Somerset Academy, Chaminade-Madonna, Carrolton School of the Sacred Heart, Mast Academy, Monsignor Pace, LaSalle, Archbishop McCarthy, Westminster Christian, and Ransom Everglades, to name a few.
These schools made it one of the most competitive districts (2A District 15) in South Florida. For most of the season, Rodriguez was the leading scorer for the school district until the end of the season when a senior from a rival school beat her out.
Rodriguez contributes her achievement to her coaches and teammates that put her in a position to be successful. MLA girls soccer team finished with a record of 10-6-1 and lost in overtime 1-0 in the district play offs against Ransom Everglades. A very successful year for MLA with a future that promises to be very bright for this group of young ladies.
