Colon Health: Prevention and Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer. In partnership with Mount Sinai Medical Center, a health workshop will feature guest speaker Dr. Kiranmayi Muddasani, board certified in colorectal and general surgery. Muddasani specializes in minimally invasive treatment of a wide variety of colon and rectal diseases, such as colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease.
The workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to noon in Town Hall Council Chambers, 6601 Main Street, on Tuesday, May 8. A light lunch will be served sponsored by Mount Sinai Medical Center. Reservations are requested by Monday, May 7.
Tech Forum: Saturday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. Seniors will learn about the advantages of smartphones and how to navigate Apple and Android products. Participants will also learn how to use social media apps such as Facebook and Instagram.
Lunch Bunch and Bingo: An opportunity to socialize and make new friends while having fun and enjoying nutritious lunches provide by Giardino’s Gourmet Salads.
Lunch dates are from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, May 9 (sponsored by Chen Medical Centers), and May 23 (sponsored by Palm Medical Centers). Seating is limited and reservations are required.
Miami Marlins Field Trips: Miami Lakes residents 65 years and over are invited to “Wellmax Senior Thursdays” at Miami Marlins games. Free transportation is provided to the Marlins Stadium. The bus will depart at 4:30 p.m. (unless other time noted) from Miami Lakes Optimist Park Clubhouse, 6411 N.W. 162 Street. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
The first field trip is scheduled for Thursday, May 10.
Other Marlins field trips are set for Thursdays, June 14 (9:45 a.m. departure), July 26, August 25 and September 20.
