The rhythmic gymnastics and tumbling program at the Miami Lakes Athletic Club has been popular for a quarter century. Led by Ana Roche, she continues to draw enthusiastic girls and boys to her classes.

Relatives and friends filled a gym to see the Summer Rhythmic Gymnastics Show held on June 16, when 116 students performed in the mid-year show.

The kids appear in two shows each year as well as in a competition, Roche said.

Last spring, Roche was named Recreational Employee of the Year. She was a member of the Cuban Rhythmic Gymnastics Olympic Team at age 14 before coming to the United States. Some of Roche’s former students have gone on to enjoy professional performing careers.
