Groundbreaking ceremony for Bombardier service center held at Opa-Locka Executive Airport

Community Thursday, January 3, 2019

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and County Commissioner Barbara Jordan took part in a groundbreaking ceremony making way for Bombardier at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.
The new $90 million service center will serve as an important conduit in the development of a larger aerospace hub at the airport and create an “aviation center” for the region. When fully ramped up, the facility will employ a staff of almost 300 with an average salary of $70,000 per year, plus benefits.
“I commend Bombardier for partnering with pilot Barrington Irving to provide hands-on training and mentoring to the local community,” Jordan said. “Both Barrington and Bombardier have the same goal in mind: Training students in the aviation industry, and preparing them for future careers. By providing the hands-on training and mentoring, this partnership will open the door to high-paying and secure job opportunities in the aviation industry.”
