Miami Lakes closes two turf fields for annual maintenance

Sports Wednesday, December 17, 2014

The Town of Miami Lakes announced the athletic turf fields at Miami Lakes Optimist Park and Royal Oaks Park will be closed until early January for the annual recreation maintenance.

The maintenance work will conclude on January 5 but some areas in the parks will remain open during the recreation repairs.

At Miami Lakes Optimist Park, 6411 N.W. 162 Street, the area west of the basketball court as well as the perimeter area for exercises will remain accessible for open play.

At Royal Oaks Park, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue, park visitors can still use two open areas, one is just west of the parking lot and the other is in the southwest corner of the park.

The playground and walking trail remain open as well.

As an alternative, residents can use the open-play field at Barbara Goleman High School, 14100 N.W. 89 Avenue, for pick-up games and other non-organized sporting activities.

The Town appreciates the cooperation of all park users as this work is necessary in order to preserve and improve the conditions of the fields at both parks.
