Local resident Erika Nelly has a knack for capturing modern photos with a vintage twist. Nelly, a professional photographer, has found a niche market with her 40’s and 50’s style and has garnered great success, as exemplified by her recent gallery showcase, a series called “Belly, Babies and More,” at Macanoco & Co. Baby Boutique in Coral Gables.
Nelly, who has been featured in Fresh Look Magazine, Pinup America Magazine, Boudoir International Blog, a RAW Artist event in Wynwood, The Sun Sentinel, and Miami New Times, has dabbled in all types of photography though specializes in newborn/babies, maternity, family, couples and pin-up themed sessions. Nelly devotes all her energy into her small business, including traveling to L.A., Key West and Orlando for photo shoots.
“I try to incorporate some retro attributes to my themed sets, whether it’s a prop, clothing item, or the colors I add in post-processing. I am always trying to come up with new ideas,” said Nelly. “I’m in love with what I do.”
As her client base grows, so did the need for space. Nelly is in the planning stages for her photography studio, Vintage Bombshell Studio, which she hopes to open in the Miami Lakes area sometime in 2015.
