Dave Gergley, a 36-year veteran employee of The Graham Companies, and the Charity and Corporate Golf Sales Coordinator for Shula’s Golf Club, was named Lodging Employee of the Year during the recent Greater Miami and The Beaches Hotel Association Inn Key Awards ceremony.
Over 900 representatives from hotels throughout Miami-Dade County came together to recognize those employees that are the backbone of the hospitality and tourism industry.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Gergley became the Program Director for Shula’s Athletic Club in 1981. He then opened the Original Shula’s Steak House in 1989 and served as the director of Sports Entertainment at Shula’s Steak 2 starting in 1992.
As a long time fan of golf, Gergley’s current position allows him to specialize in Corporate Groups, Charity Groups, and anyone interested in enjoying golf on The Senator Course at Shula’s Golf Club.
For the past 21 years, Gergley has co-hosted the Saturday morning radio Show “The JM Lexus Trivia Challenge” on 940AM. He has raised over $50,000 for various charities at their golf tournaments with his “Beat the Broadcaster” Challenge.
“As a Miami Lakes resident, I have been blessed to work for The Graham Companies and the Don Shula organization in positions that have allowed me to interact with guests from all over the world. What a fortunate life I lead,” said Gergley.
Just as he was being recognized as the Lodging Employee of the Year, Gergley missed the luncheon recognition as he was working as emceeing the recent William “B” Graham Boy Scout golf tournament at Shula’s Golf Club.
