JetStream Federal Credit Union once again partnered with CFT (Center for Financial Training) and Miami Dade College for their On-the-Job training program.
The program allows highly motivated students a real learning opportunity in their field of study. The students apply what they have learned in class to a job setting and further develop their knowledge and skills. Each student is required to work 160 hours during the semester.
The JetStream intern this year was Fabienne Pierre, a Business Administration student at Miami Dade College’s School of Business. Pierre was able to participate and observe various JetStream Federal departments including branches, accounting, compliance, and care center, to learn what it’s like to work in a financial institution.
Pierre said, “My first day at the branch, I was extremely nervous. However, the team was very nice and humble, eager to show and teach me what I needed to do. I have learned more in these past two months than I had anticipated and I am grateful for this amazing opportunity.”
Davena Ellis, JetStream’s employee development specialist who coordinated Pierre’s work schedule, said, “Nelson Mandela once said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’ It was an honor to contribute to the financial future of our country through educating the next generation on financial services.”
