George Betances, owner of Barber’s Ink barber shop in the Lake Katharine Shopping Center, and his staff recently donated free haircuts for 30 children from His House Children’s Home. The Barber’s Ink team was so pleased with the results, they plan on establishing a regular schedule of free grooming for His House residents.

Barbara Goleman High School’s marching band and Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho participated in the 46th annual Three Kings Parade last month in Little Havana. The parade is held to honor the Hispanic tradition of the Three Wise Men giving gifts to children. Participants marched and rode along S.W. Eighth Street from 4th Avenue to 17th Avenue.

Miami Lakes residents Neyda and Daniel Borges welcome their first child, Ian Daniel Borges, born December 16, 2015 weighing 5 lbs, 13 oz., and 20 inches. Neyda is a teacher at Miami Lakes Educational Center and Daniel is a Miami Lakes a local business owner.
