Boaters of all levels can take watercraft safety education courses from one of the most experienced experts in Miami Lakes.
The Town of Miami Lakes and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are hosting the Boating Safety Education courses for the remainder of July and August, on Saturdays at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82nd Avenue.
From 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on August 22, boaters will learn about “Suddenly in Command,” a 4-hour boating safety primer, which demonstrates the basics in case of an emergency, such as when a captain becomes incapacitated or falls overboard, or someone purchased a new boat and steps aboard for the first time.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 25 and August 29, boaters can learn about “Boating Safety,” including knowledge needed to obtain a Florida’s boaters identification card, knowing boating law, safety equipment, safe boating tips, navigation and boating problems.
The “Suddenly in Command” course is $10 per person and the “Boating Safety” class is $30 per person.
The classes are taught by experienced and knowledgeable instructors committed to the highest standards of the U.S. Coast Guard.
