The Miami Lakes Mental Health Task Force invited residents to learn how to respond with compassion to someone who may be struggling with their mental health or other issues. On May 15, the task force as well as representatives from Baptist Health South Florida; the Miami-Dade Sheriff's/Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Crisis Intervention Team; Thriving Mind and the Mobile Response Team from WestCare spoke about the services offered to help those in crisis.

The work includes the sheriff’s team that connects law enforcement with behavioral health and promotes safety for those in a crisis and steers them toward appropriate services. WestCare described providing transportation for those who need to be hospitalized.

Speaking from the podium, Michelle Krichbaum, clinical manager of pain and palliative care at Baptist Health South Florida, speaks about Narcan [Naloxone], a nasal spray rapid antidote used to treat opioid overdoses, during the presentation at Miami Lakes Town Hall.
