Kids in the Loch Ness neighborhood near Windmill Gate put aside their screens for a couple of Sundays each month and grab a bucket of colored chalks instead.
They transformed community sidewalks into their own art gallery, with Batman and Godzilla themes, said Ibis Mendoza, a member of the Loch Ness Homeowner’s Association. While the kids are expressing themselves, parents have an opportunity to get together, she said.
“They talk while the kids are being artistic,” Mendoza said.
Everyone is invited to bring their own chalk and draw, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., or until they get tired, Mendoza said.
They gather the second and fourth Sunday of each month. The next meetup is Sunday, June 28.
