Cultural Affairs Committee hosts 2019 Women of Distinction Awards luncheon on Saturday, March 30

Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs Committee will host the 2019 Women of Distinction Awards luncheon in honor of Women’s History Month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club on Main Street.
The Town extended the opportunity to the community to nominate women of distinction who either live or work in Miami Lakes. Nomination submissions have been finalized and the winners will be announced at the luncheon.
Guest speaker will be the Honorable Monica Gordo, a judge of the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, Criminal Division. She was elected to the position in 2010.
Gordo received a B.B.A. degree from the University of Miami and a J.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Law. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in August 1999.
Gordo joined the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office as an assistant state prosecutor in 1999. At the time of her election, she was a special prosecutor in the Gang Strike Force of that office.
