Lots and Lawns....

A lush, manicured lawn adds value to the property and to the community. It is expected that residents will maintain their lawns to a standard befitting our “Hidden Gem” community of Miami Lakes.

There are several standards in the Town of Miami Lakes Development Code that should be adhered to. The Code of Ordinances, Sec. 16-23, Lot Maintenance Requirements, states in part:

It shall be the responsibility of the owner of an improved or unimproved lot to regularly maintain their lot to meet the lot maintenance requirements of this section.

The growth or accumulation of any grass on an improved lot shall not exceed the height of 12 inches from the ground for more than 10 percent of the area to be maintained.

The growth or accumulation of any weeds, nonnative undergrowth or other dead plant life on an improved lot shall not exceed the height of six inches from the ground for more than 10 percent of the area to be maintained.

There shall be no storage or maintenance of junk, garbage, trash, abandoned property or any solid waste on an improved on unimproved lot.

It is the responsibility of the owner of a lot adjacent to a public right-of-way to maintain the swale area which abuts the lot, in the same manner and subject to the same maintenance requirements as the lot.

Residents who believe a property may not be in compliance with these standards may report the problem to the Miami Lakes Code Enforcement Department at 305-364-6100.
