HML National Honor Society raises funds at Relay for Life

Community Wednesday, June 19, 2019

On April 5, the Hialeah Miami Lakes (HML) Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event at Walter C. Young Middle School in Pembroke Pines.
This is the 10th year that the group has participated. HML’s NHS members raised funds during the entire 2018-2019 school year to reach a total of $6,800 donated exceeding their $6,000 goal. The relay team was led by co-captains Daniel Miro and Gerry Basallo.
The HML NHS group consisted of 52 student members chaperoned by five HML teachers. All participants spent the night walking the track in support of cancer survivors and cancer research.
Relay for Life is one of the many community service projects HML NHS members participate in as part of the NHS pillars of character, scholarship, leadership and service.
