Lakes native Ailani Nicole Ortega graduates magna cum laude from Hialeah Gardens

Ailani Noelle Ortega, born and raised in Miami Lakes, graduated magna cum laude from Hialeah Gardens Senior High School (HGSH) on June 4. Ortega has been an active student who participated in several sports, activities and clubs.
Ortega was selected as the female Scholar Athlete of the Year at HGHS and attended the Miami Dade Scholar Athlete Awards in which she was the recipient of the General Chappie James Scholarship.
Ortega played four years of soccer and flag football and enjoyed a third sport each year, swimming, bowling, volleyball and golf. She was also a Silver Knight nominee for Athletics. She is president of the Student Government Association, vice president of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, secretary of the Photography Club, a ProStart Competitor and a member of the National Honor Society and Ambassadors of the National Parks.
Ortega will be inducted into the Gladiator Hall of Fame at HGSH. She was awarded the Gold and Blue Scholarship from Florida International University where she will major in Biology. Her parents, Jeanette Rodriguez and Carlos Ortega and siblings, Alessia and Andre Ortega, are extremely proud of her for her diligence, commitment and achievement.
