Miami Lakes offers online classes, youth camps

Because of the coronavirus outbreak, the Town of Miami Lakes has postponed most programming at community centers.
Instead the town is offering classes on Zoom.us.

11 a.m. Restorative Yoga
Mon. 6 p.m. Spanish, beginner
Tues. 6.p.m. Spanish, intermediate
Wed 6 p.m. Spanish, conversational, advanced
Thurs. 6 p.m. Spanish, intermediate
For kids, there are two options:
Beginning July 20 through Aug. 7, the town is offering Snapology
Snapology is a LEGO Engineering camp. Each week has a different theme: Star Wars and other movies; Pokemania and mining and crafting.
Campers may enroll for a half-day or full day, at Miami Lakes Youth
Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive E in Miami Lakes.

YMCA summer camps began June 15 at Royal Oaks Park, 16500 NW 87th Ave. and continue to accept new registrations.
Campers will be offered opportunities to sing, swim, take nature hikes, play sports, create fashion shows and other fun activities.
The camps are for ages 5 through 12.
Hours are 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, until July 31.
The costs are a $50 registration fee, and $135 per week for residents, and $155 per week for non-residents.
There are discounts available for siblings.
Campers must show proof that they are town residents or live in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
The YMCA says it will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for COVID-19 safety, including reduced capacities, temperature checks, and frequent cleaning and sanitation.
