Miami Springs' Curtis Mansion hosts Dreamers and Schemers Nov. 3

Community Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Curtiss Mansion, Inc., the Pelican Playhouse and the Florida Humanities Council are inviting the public to experience history coming alive on stage with Dreamers and Schemers: An Evening with Great Floridians.

With its pristine beaches, fertile farm land, and vast Everglades, the lure of tourism and industry has always been at odds with preserving Florida’s natural beauty and unique ecosystems. Henry Flagler, Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, and Marjorie Stoneman Douglas each had a very different vision of what the future Florida should look like and who should control its natural resources.

Professional actors will portray these important figures and offer a glimpse into each of the contributions to Florida in the stage presentation. The performance is scheduled at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at the Rebeca Sosa Theater, Miami Springs Community Center, 2nd floor, 1401 Westward Drive, in Miami Springs.

The cost is $5 and tickets will be available at the theater on the day of the show. For more information, call 305-869-5180.
