M.L. Congregational hosts March 21 Chamber concert

Religious Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The Miami Lakes Congregational Church (MLCC) Concert Series presents a Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South.

The Miami Chamber Players will perform music of Schubert and Vivaldi. The Franz Schubert compostition known as “The Trout Quintet” provides the hook for this performance.

Otherwise known as the “Piano Quintet in A major,” this German Romantic-era gem is famed for its unusual instrument combo of piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass.

The South Florida-based ensemble will also feature Antonio Vivaldi’s “Mandolin Concerto in C major.” The 1725 piece is notoriously difficult to play, and is one of the only major works expressly written for solo mandolin and orchestra.

Performers for the concert include pianist and MLCC music director Adolfo Vidal, Rafael Ramirez (viola and mandolin), Mari-Lils Pakk (violin), Hernan Matute (double bass), and Jason Calloway (cello).

The concert is free and a suggested donation of $15 will be accepted at the door. A free reception follows the concert.
