ML Veterans Committee seeks donations for troop care packages

Miami Lakes Veterans Committee urges residents to help give back to the men and women who serve overseas. Operation: Care and Comfort will provide care packages for holiday delivery to troops.

The Veterans Committee will be collecting donated items and hand written cards and letters of encouragement until Thursday, November 30 at the first-floor reception desk at Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.

Recommended donation items include:

Snacks, Food and Treats - Individually wrapped candy, chewing and bubble gum, mints. Small packages of nuts, seeds, pretzels, cookies, chips, Cracker Jacks, Corn Nuts, fruit snacks and fruit leather.

Trail mix, energy and protein bars, breakfast and granola bars, nut bars, instant oatmeal, Kraft Easy Mac, ramen and Cup a Noodles.

Powdered, sweetened drink mixes, ground or instant coffee, tea bags, hot chocolate, cider mix, sugar, sweetener, Coffee Mate and condiment packets.

Personal, Hygiene and Toiletries – Hotel/travel sized gel deodorant, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and mouthwash, toothbrushes, dental floss and lip balm. Disposable razors, eye and nose drops, unscented baby wipes, wet wipes, small hand sanitizer, razors and blades. Kleenex packets, Q-tips, anti-fungal cream, bandaids, foot powder and sunscreen.

For Females – Hair bands, clips, bobby pins, tampons, maxi and mini pads, oil free face cleaners, makeup remover, nail kits, mascara and makeup.

Miscellaneous - AAA and AA batteries, pens, pencils, blank greeting cards and stationary, stickers, disposable cameras, AT&T phone cards.
