Main Street in Miami Lakes is a half-mile, east-west byway between Miami Lakeway North and Eagle Nest Lane. Residential developments anchor each end. There are offices and apartments on two floors; merchants and restaurants rent ground floor spaces.
It crosses Northwest 67th Avenue and ends near Miami Lakes Town Hall and the police station. Also there is 6600 Main, a retail/residental complex which opened in 2020.
Main Street was built in three phases by The Graham Companies in the New Town concept. It is a walkable community where people can live, work and play in nearby parks.
Gary Snow of Snow’s Jewelers said the family business signed the first lease on the two lane street in 1983, at No. 6837, and opened a year later. Holstein cows from the Graham Dairy business grazed in pastures along the next block, which was not yet developed.
After 38 years, Snow says, “It’s a nice, clean, neighborhood atmosphere. And it’s safe.”
He said it’s easy for customers to park for free right outside the business he runs with his daughter Marisa Snow.
Four restaurants scheduled to open soon are Acai Express; Korner 67; The Garrison and La Strega Italian restaurant.
Main Street Players will move a block west and a new gym and a renovated CMX Cinemas will continue to lure residents downtown.
